“I play whatever moves me regardless of how popular the track may be, and I relish in connection and gaining the trust of the dancefloor.” That statement sums up his whole vibe. One listen to any of his sets and it’s very clear that DJ NewLife has been inspired by the very rich history of DJing itself. This native Chicagoan knows underground dance music from all over the globe — inside and out, and with a hip hop and house DJ background and mix aesthetic, he honors and upholds this legacy in a unique fashion.

When it comes to his own music, NewLife puts out records influenced by his travels, and his hometown. His releases on labels like FEX, Sazon Libre, SF Chickenbox and Wile Out Records have been supported and played by DJs far and wide. He co-founded the Foreign Exchange party in 2009 which ran for 10 strong years in Chicago, and the now Oakland-based DJ runs a traveling party + monthly podcast called ‘World Over’.

His DJing varies greatly from night to night, and he's always adding to his considerable music collection. No one set is quite the same as the other. His aim is to facilitate spaces where people can move and be moved, juxtaposing jubilation and revolution as only NewLife can.
